Survey Instrument Assistant
Survey Instrument Assistant assists the Survey Party Chiefs with surveying and measuring points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, and titles.
This is a full time position with benefits and room for advancement. No surveying experience necessary. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
Follow written and verbal directions from Survey Party Chiefs and Project Managers
Efficiently operate survey equipment
Assist in maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, tools, etc.
Perform manual labor such as clearing brush, digging, or shoveling
Move objects weighting up to 60 pounds regularly
Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Must be able to pass project specific background checks for access to federal and military locations
Willing to travel on occasion
Working Conditions:
Regularly walk, stand, crouch or stoop, lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move equipment and supplies
Carry equipment up, down, and across irregular terrain
Work in all types of weather
Survey Party Chief
Survey Party Chiefs supervises the daily operations of a survey party/field crew and provides data for surveying and measuring points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, and titles.
This is a full time position with generous benefits and room for advancement. Experienced Survey Rod Persons who are ready to take the next step in this profession will be considered. Training will be provided to motivated and professional candidates.
Responsibilities:
Supervises the day to day Field Crew operations and provide field data for residential, commercial, topographic, hydrographic, and construction surveys.
Operates Total Stations, levels, GPS and data for use in the collection field of survey data. Trains Survey Rod Persons on the equipment.
Establish and set points on residential (stake-out, block points, etc.) and heavy civil (curb and gutter, drop inlets, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, structures, etc.) construction projects.
Provides clear and concise field notes including sketches, photographs, etc.
Maintains survey equipment, supplies and company provided truck.
Assists with daily maintenance, up-keep, and troubleshooting of instruments.
Works as a team member, and occasionally work independently.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and 3 to 5 years of surveying experience
Experience in boundary, physical, topographical, and construction surveys. Marine and hydrographic surveying experience a plus.
Experience with Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, and GPS.
Ability to compute, process, and map field data.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Must be able to pass project specific background checks for access to federal and military locations.
Willing to travel on occasion.
